Martin Spaven | Professional Freelance Photographer
Having always had a passion for photography, what started as a hobby turned into a very satisfying career.
I started work in 1974, aged 16, with Universal Pictorial Press, a well known and respected stock and press agency. I was employed firstly as a runner, delivering photos to the Picture Desks of all the National and Provincial Newspapers in Fleet Street. I then progressed to printing and processing photographic materials, learning all aspects of this side of photography.

During 16 years with Universal Pictorial Press, I gained enormous experience and respect in the professional photography world, both with other photographers and with the many celebrities and subjects of my photographs.
I joined The People in 1990 where I continued my career as a Professional Photographer. I took the post as Picture Editor for 2 years, however I missed being behind the camera and quickly returned to using my skills where I most enjoyed them.
I have covered many major events on the world calendar including the Cannes Film Festival, the Oscars, and numerous Royal occasions.
